Freedom, Liberty, Grace

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ
Jesus has
set you free from the law of sin
and of death. {set free to live free}

Romans 8:2

What are we set free from? bondage to
sin and death. They are the master of the
unredeemed. They control our life until
we are set free by Christ. Who is your master today?

How Are We Set Free? By Jesus. Jesus tells us that knowing the truth of His Word makes us free (John 8:32-36). ...Jesus is the way, the truth, the life. We have redemption through His blood. The truth is, we are sinners that can never be good enough for God’s righteousness. The Law has shown us that. Even so, the pharisees of the day claimed they were never enslaved. They were blind also! Sin and death oppress. The Spirit of Life gives us freedom and liberty.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

Most will answer “God’s unmerited favor”. It is much more than this! It is also God’s empowering presence enabling us to do what God has called us to do.

Grace is...God’s power realized in Jesus upon us in abundance
John 1:14-17 (progression of law, grace and truth)
..the method of divine dealing in salvation and the believer’s life.

What does Grace enable us to do?

  • Partake in His divine power - 2 Peter 1:2-4; 3:18 (and bible note)
  • Grow in Christian graces - 2 Peter 1:5-11
  • Become giving and impact others - 2 Cor 4:15; 8:1, 6-7; 9:14

...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Cor 3:17)
~The state of a free person; exemption from subjection to the will of another claiming ownership of the person or services;
~ A certain amount of freedom; permission to go freely within certain limits; liberty of choice does not of necessity lead to lawlessness.
Liberty is not Lawlessness.

JUSTIFICATION a judicial act. God justly declares and treats as righteous the one who believes in Jesus Christ. They have been declared by the Judge Himself to have nothing laid to his charge.
